一如往常，王建民昨天賽前在洋基球場外野與隊友季伊傳接球熱身；不同的是，季伊剛獲得好消息，他將進入先發投手輪值，取代表現不佳、受傷的楊恩。
皇家隊調整先發投手輪值，王建民的角色暫時不會有變化，教練團沒有這個計畫，就算真的想，現階段也不可能實現，關鍵在於他的手臂強度。
「我從春訓到現在，訓練方式都是後援投手，投球量也不超過3局，大部分都是1局。」王建民說：「這樣子，手臂不夠強壯，不可能馬上就去先發。」
楊恩本季不振，防禦率高達6.68，系列賽首戰更被洋基隊狠狠擊出5支全壘打；皇家隊安排他先回堪薩斯，今天就要檢查不太舒服的右前臂，也安排季伊接下15日原本楊恩的先發。
而且，就算皇家隊真的想讓王建民重回先發，也不是短期內就可以達到的目標；建仔說「一直以來，教練團都是把我定位在後援，所以我不會多想。」
